Not strictly the copy of Bad Company I have in my possession - tho' I'd much prefer to punt this cover art by series artist (the late) Brett Ewins to that of my earlier collected version - but it'll more than do. This has to be one of my 'big bang' moments in comics, having picked up 2000AD around Prog 497 or so, just in time for B.C. to make their debut in Prog 500 (it'll hit Prog 2000 next year, just to put my advancing years into harsh context)....
Braw Books is quite excited by the prospect of the strip returning this autumn in Prog 1950's "First Casualties", with original writer Pete Milligan and Glasgow Comic Con regular (and latterly a good friend of Mr Ewins) Rufus Dayglo on art duties. It should also be noted that Jim McCarthy, who's inking brought so much to the original strips, is also back in the saddle. There's some good info. on the strip's eventual return here and here as well as a look into the creative process behind this sterling new promo art here....
Just to tie it all together - and put more of this post into some sort of worthwhile Braw context - I had a drawing of Kano in the 2013 Glasgow Comic Con booklet, tho' the version below has been rebooted just a tad for posting here (I've gone for the "blue look" as opposed to the yellowy brown of my/the original). Like another absolute favourite of mine, Bacchus - who also just happens to have a hint of Boris Karloff's Frankenstein's Monster (another of my childhood touchstones) about his look - Kano is one of those characters who belongs very much to his artist, making any attempt to draw him fall somewhat short (in spirit) by comparison. No pressure on Mr Dayglo to deliver there then....
