I have Spanky (of Daily Doodles) to thank for that. (I'd never seen Viy until it cropped up on one of your movie lists, tracked it down and loved that.)
Viy's ridiculously good, I could watch that final sequence over and over... And I have!
The perfect counterpart to The Fearless Vampire Killers, IMO, just has that feel about it. Make a cracking cinema double bill.
